Viognier Reserve, Lismore Estate Vineyards 2025

Tasting Notes

The 2025 Viognier Estate Reserve comes from Greyton and is raised for 11 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, 35% new. It has quite a floral bouquet infusing the candy floss and nectarine scents. The palate has a mouth-lacquering, viscous texture and a fine bead of acidity. Perhaps the spiciest of Samantha O’Keefe’s whites, it is very harmonious and intense on the finish, which fans out beautifully. You can feel the residual nuttiness lingering long after the wine has departed: fabulous. Drinking Window: 2027 – 2043

We’ve become so used to the quality of this wine that it’s easy to overlook how hard it is to make a Viognier of this quality. Enticingly intense and aromatic, it’s a wine that handles its 35% new oak with ease, marrying layers of tangerine, lychee and white peach with palate-coating texture and unmistakable cool climate acidity.
