Chassagne Montrachet Macherelles, Domaine Hubert Lamy 2022

Tasting Notes

Aromas of pear, sweet orange oil and hazelnuts introduce the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny wine that's racy and incisive, standing out as an unusually electric rendition of this bottling.

Deep red soil, with limestone downwash, in the upper part. The holding is just 0.16ha planted in 1988, converted from pinot. The Lamys were sharecroppers here, but now own the property. A broad-based, white fruit, without the St-Aubin natural limestone tension - though a little of something along those lines then appears at the back of the palate
