The second wine of Château Lafleur. This is made from the only part of the Lafleur vineyard that has clay soils - with the grand vin coming from gravel. 67% Merlot, 33% Bouchet (Cabernet Franc) and like Lafleur this will be labelled as "Vin de France" rather than Pomerol.
Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries, licorice and truffle, framed by a deft touch of oak, the 2025 Pensées de Lafleur is medium- to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with an enveloping core of fruit, bright acids and a rather muscular, broad-shouldered profile. Impressive but distinctly serious, this is a structured Pensées that will reward patience.
The 2025 Les Pensées was picked from 28 August until 12 September. It has slightly darker fruit, a light marine influence, touches of oyster shell infusing the redcurrant and cranberry fruit. Quite open. The palate is very finely balanced, poised and minerally, with wonderful vivacity and poise, and real sapidity towards the finish that lingers in the mouth. This is an outstanding Les Pensées. Drink 2030-2050.
Deep ruby with a fuller, rounder nose and texture than Perrieres, this opens with dark cherry and poached plum, as well as hints of creamy vanilla from a little wood spice. The palate is plush and seductive, juicy but full of energy and lifted acidity. This has a pulpy generosity with forest and hedgerow fruits coming through, and just a touch of cedar and graphite on a long, open finish. This is the most seductive wine of the estate's bottlings this year.
A linear wine with very fine tannins that remind me of the great Les Pensees of the 1990s. Perfumed and sophisticated. Medium-bodied, integrated and pure. Dense yet agile. 67% merlot and 33% cabernet franc.
The 2025 Les Pensées de Lafleur is laced with cool blue/purplish fruit, rose petal and lavender. Medium in body and pliant, with good depth, the 2025 is attractive, but it lacks energy and excitement. It also feels rather light, especially on the mid-palate. 2027 - 2040
