Chambolle Combe d'Orveau, Domaine Taupenot-Merme 2019

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau 1er Cru is understated on the nose. sous-bois-infused red fruit, hints of Earl Grey and chestnut lend complexity, but this remains nuanced and low key (in a positive way) despite aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced with crushed strawberry, raspberry and a pinch of black pepper. There is a clever use of whole bunch here that pushes it stylistically toward a classically-styled Northern Rhône! Wonderful. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2027-2050)
