The 2015 Barolo Briccolina is sensual, beautifully perfumed and very pretty. A decidedly elegant, gracious Barolo for Serralunga, the 2015 is a wine that engages all the sense with its exquisite beauty. Readers should expect a mid-weight, understated Barolo that is more about nuance than sheer power. (Drink between 2020-2035)
The only wine produced from this tiny family estate, the 2015 Barolo Briccolina offers textbook red and black fruits, licorice, toasted spice, violets, and loamy soil notes. Beautifully complex, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, with lots of sweet tannins, a deep, stacked mid-palate, and outstanding length, it has the polished, ripe style of the vintage, yet backs it up with concentration and depth.
Serralunga d’Alba. Tasted blind. Concentrated, lustrous ruby. Concentrated cherry nose with hints of mint. Supple and voluptuous ripe fruit with a singed edge and some sweetness from oak. Soft, long-lasting tannic grip and succulent acidity. Truly accessible and ready, which is not very typical for Serralunga. (WS)
