Pinot Noir Cuvee Madeline, Kahiwi 2021

Tasting Notes

5 star review
There’s plenty of charming red fruits; raspberry, red cherry and plum with a little hint of whole cluster giving a cinnamon twist. Bright and vibrant with lots of energy and charm. Crisp acidity provides drive and poise. Just starting to drink well now but no hurry as this has plenty of concentration. Whilst the Cuvée Stella is the richer wine, I marginally prefer this joyful expression. Drink from 2026-2032.

Fragrant, beguiling, bright, with intense raspberry, spice, rosehip and darker cherry aromatics, threaded with delicate herbal notes. Fine-boned and flavoursome with crunchy fruit, this is a very texture-led wine with very fine, sandy tannins and detailed acidity. Very well balanced, and there's a lovely sense of calmness here. Unfurls beautifully in the glass. 2025-2035

From fruit previously used for Burn Cottage. Schist and quartz soils. 18 months in oak.
Fruit-forward, with the darker signature of Otago: cherry, even bramble. Fine, stippled tannic texture. High acid, powerful fruit that persists well. Subtle oak with a leathery, savoury style. Great potential. (RH) 2027 – 2037
