The 2015 Barolo Monvigliero is the most complete of the Barolos in this range. Suave and polished (for a young Barolo), the 2015 offers a good bit of early appeal, as all these wines do. Sweet tobacco, dried cherry, mint, crushed flowers and orange zest add layers of nuance to this pretty, expressive Barolo from Fratelli Alessandria. (Drink between 2022-2040)
Attractive dried-rose and potpourri aromas with sweet, dried strawberry notes. This is really charming. The palate has a very bright red-fruit spark on entry that builds into a chalky bend of tannin that holds the finish long and fresh. Elegant and approachable now, this is a great expression of Verduno that will age very well. Best from 2022.
Verduno. Tasted blind. Deep ruby. Sweet and rich cherry-compote nose with savoury spicy notes hovering over it. Pretty combination of juicy acidity, ripe fruit and polished tannins. Very long and with great focus. Drink between 2020-2032.
