A considerable step up from Les Prémices and Les Vignes de Vrigny in complexity and tension, Egly's 2019 vintage-based NV Les Vignes de Bisseuil includes reserve wines from 2018 and 2017 and was disgorged in October 2024 with one gram per liter dosage. Heavily based on Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, all vinified in oak, it derives from a south-facing site on chalky soils in Bisseuil. Wafting from the glass with aromas of fresh citrus fruit, bread crust and crisp pear, it is medium- to full-bodied and concentrated yet racy and fresh, with notable cut and a chalky profile, concluding with a long, precise finish. Just like Egly's grand cru bottlings, this too will richly reward patience. 2025 - 2037
Vignes de Bisseuil is a premier cru that is built around Chardonnay (70%) with 15% each of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Vinified entirely in barrel with four years on the lees before disgorgement. This year's release is 50% 2019, with 30% 2018 and 20% 2017. Light gold in the glass with flecks of bronze, the nose here is generous, with notes of apricot pastries, wild hedgerow fruits and freshly made bread dough. The palate has an engaging texture, almost grippy with pithy tannins and layered stone and citrus fruit. Deep, powerful and gastronomic, this would benefit from a year or two in bottle but is already showing well. Vibrant waves of acidity tingle on the finish with spice and steeped fruit.
