Mazoyeres Chambertin, Domaine Tawse 2021

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Mazoyères Chambertin Grand Cru contains 60% new oak and whole bunch. Backward on the nose, this demands coaxing, revealing brambly red fruit, pine and sous-bois scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, very nicely proportioned, white pepper liberally sprinkled over the finish with impressive persistence. Excellent. Drink between 2026-2048

Domaine. Two barrels, both new, 60% whole bunch, with the big stems removed, though this wine has usually been destemmed. Lightly reduced but the fresh spice of the whole bunches pokes through. The light reduction disappears rapidly, to leave a complex rich red fruit, with a faint chocolate note. Fine-boned, stylish and persistent. Drink from 2028-2036.
