Niepoort Coche Branco 2022

Tasting Notes

With a profile resembling that of a great Burgundian wine, the Coche is Niepoort’s most coveted and highest-ranking white wine. Our aim with the Coche is to achieve a harmony between fruitiness and the complexity stemming from an ageing period in first-fill, light-toast French oak barrels from the François Frères cooperage. On the nose, the oak ageing comes through as aromas of hazelnut, honey and brioche which mingle seamlessly with an aromatic base of tangerine, apricot, pineapple and fragrant herbs. The palate offers a structure much like that of a great Burgundy: elegant, moderate in alcohol and with plenty of aromatic complexity. The finish is long and lingers with its beautiful acidity pointing to excellent ageing potential.
