Tasting Notes

The 2019 Condrieu “Iône” from Julien Pilon is a lovely example, coming in at a well- measured fourteen percent octane and offering up an expressive nose of nectarine, passion fruit, papaya, honeysuckle, a lovely base of soil and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, good acids and grip and a long, ripe and well-balanced finish. This is a very good bottle of Condrieu, with the ripeness inherent in the vintage handled quite deftly, with only a whisper of backend heat in evidence. Julien Pilon is clearly making some of the most beautiful white wines in all of the northern Rhône these days! 2021-2030.

fine yellow robe; the bouquet is fresh, engages, has a well restrained pear aroma, nutmeg, herbal tea, grapey airs in attendance. The palate takes a stylish, calm route, is nicely juiced, giving, with a little crispness, tang towards the close. It’s on the go now, carries notes of apricot, dried fruits, late vanilla, white plum. It has a light touch, can serve for the aperitif. 14°. To 2025 Oct 2021 ***(*)
