The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru is very perfumed and quite floral on the nose. Rose petal and iris infuse the red berry fruit, as just a background scent of graphite emerges with time. I am initially smitten by this, though it seems to fade in the glass, sadly. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins. There’s a lovely core of red fruit here, leaning toward Vosne-Romanée in style with a lavish yet controlled, peppery finish that lingers. This is a very well-crafted and delicious wine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2048)
Dense but lively purple, a little bit reductive, having not yet been racked at any stage. Sweet rich ripe fruit but not cooked here, just ultra-lush, with good acidity. Nicely balanced, with even some elegance, I really enjoy the finish here, with a welcome strictness. Very promising. Tasted Nov 2020.
