A highly spiced nose of cassis, red currant, plum and warm earth complements well the equally ripe and notably earthy medium weight flavors that possess a succulent palate impression as there is ample dry extract present. This is really quite powerful with fine focus and detail to the harmonious finish. As the typical Echézeaux goes this is a relatively big but not inelegant wine if for no other reason than the tannins are finely rendered.
The nose is well defined with attractive tertiary aromas, mingling with limestone and citrus lemon. The palate is very smooth and lithe on the entry with crisp chalky tannins, great tension and an attacking, pointed finish. This will need 5-8 years bottle age. Tasted January 2012.
