The 2020 Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a resounding success, mingling aromas of peach, pear, orange oil and confit lemon with notions of hazelnuts, white flowers and buttered toast. Full-bodied, broad and muscular, it's deep and multidimensional, its satiny attack segueing into a layered, seamless mid-palate framed by racy acids and chalky structuring dry extract. Sadly, it's produced in tiny quantities, so it won't be easy to find. Drink: 2025-2050
Two barrels made. Pale lemon and lime colour. There is an intensity and succulence of fruit here. Goodness me, this bouquet is spectacular! So nuanced, floral, brilliantly classy, so much detail, spring and summer flowers on top of a pure white fruit. Exceptional. The depth behind is magisterial s well and there is no sense of heath. Perfectly judged acidity, correct oak, great persistence. All to play for! Drink from 2027-2037.
