There is a cooler and slightly less ripe quality to the restrained aromas of red currant, raspberry, earth and spice whiffs. The rich middleweight flavors aren't quite as dense but they're finer while displaying a subtle minerality on the strikingly persistent finish where a hint of warmth also arises. This too could use better depth but that is just a matter of allowing for a decade of keeping. (Drink starting 2032)
Another fine clean purple. The oak is less present and the fruit a little more clean cut. The lines are a little more severe and there is something of the drier grain seen earlier in the Gevrey. The fruit wants to be more approachable though and the finish shows the class anticipated in a Boudots. It seems out oif sorts today and Jean-Nicolas thinks that the Boudots and Murgers have slightly swapped clothing, compared to how they usually show. This rating may be severe.
Méo's Boudots is striking in its purity of fruit, with pure mulberry aromas and peony, smoke, and earth notes. The texture is silky, yet there is also impressive density and length. The grapes come from a parcel of just over a hectare at the base of the slope. This delicious wine is a model of elegance and finesse that demonstrates the virtues of the Vosne side of the village. Méo relates that he has revolutionized his barrel regime and that almost everything is aged in light toast casks. (Drink between 2027-2060)
