Tasting Notes

Though the nose is once again reduced, it does not extend to the more elegant if less concentrated medium weight flavors that deliver outstanding persistence if only average depth on the youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. Like several wines in the range which could use better depth, the Dujac Ech typically develops beautifully in bottle. As such, my predicted range implicitly offers the same confidence that the 2021 version will do so if given time. Note: from a .69 ha holding in Champs Traversin

Domaine Dujac’s 2021 Echézeaux is really a beautiful example of the vintage this year and the wine was really singing at the time of our tasting. The wine’s aromatic constellation delivers scents of raspberries, cherries, red plums, duck, Vosne spices, a fine base of dark soil tones, bonfire, vanillin oak and a nice touch of stems in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, complex and revels in its fine mid-palate depth, with lovely transparency and grip, ripe tannins and impeccable balance on the long and complex finish. Fine, fine juice. 2035-2100.
