A completely different aromatic profile is comprised by notes of bright, cool and exceptionally fresh red currant, floral, earth and subtle spice nuances. There is excellent intensity to the beautifully precise medium weight flavors that possess a sophisticated mouthfeel while delivering outstanding length on the moderately firm, serious and ever-so-mildly austere finish. Classy juice that is fashioned in an understated style.
The 2015 Combottes from Domaine Dujac had been racked two weeks before I tasted it and had bounced back very nicely. This is a very, very transparent red fruity example of the vintage, wafting from the glass in a fine constellation of red plums, cherries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a hint of nuttiness, a great base of soil and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and very soil-driven in personality, with lovely purity and depth at the core, suave, seamless tannins and a long, vibrant and perfectly balanced finish. Just lovely. (Drink between 2025-2065)
