**located at the southern end of the Vosne section of Nuits; 100% whole clusters**
A distinctly toasty nose fights somewhat with the otherwise cool and pure aromas of red currant, dried flowers, spice and earth aromas. There is also a touch of wood perceptible on the precise and energetic flavors that possess fine length. For long time de Montille fans I underscore that this is stylistically outside the norm and while this will probably eat its wood without any real concern, it will drink differently young.
The 2012 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Thorey comes from the domaine's 0.73-hectare parcel. This vintage is 100% whole cluster and sees around 50% new oak. It has an earthy, mushroom and dried blood-scented bouquet that is very engaging and well-defined. The palate is firm and grippy on the entry. This is very concentrated with a fine bead of acidity, yet the grip is gentle and not imposing. The swagger demonstrated at this nascent stage suggests that this may evolve into one of Domaine de Montille's finest 2012.
