Crozes Hermitage Meysonniers, Maison M. Chapoutier 2022

Tasting Notes

Along the same lines, although slightly more concentrated, the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers has attractive red and black fruits, some peppery, meaty, bacon fat nuances, medium body, and a fresh, lively, elegant style.

A deep violet-tinged blue in the glass, the nose here speaks of the vintage with oily blueberry fruit and damsons, together with a graphite note and dark, peppery spice. The palate is polished and refined, a sheen coating the tannins which are chalky and persistent. Everything is coated in ripe, dark fruit - cherries, blueberries and blackberries. A glossy but well made wine, leaning on the riper elements of Northern Rhône Syrah. Succulent and laden with star anise and black fruit on a long, balanced finish.
