The 2022 Saint Joseph Le Clos is a step up (at least at this young stage) and comes from a cooler, east-facing parcel in the southern part of the appellation. Mostly destemmed (85%) and still resting in 20% new French oak, it has pure cassis and black raspberry fruit interwoven with floral, smoky, meaty nuances. I love its tannins, it's medium to full-bodied, and it has an almost Côte Rôtie-like sense of finesse and elegance. It’s going to need bottle age, but is going to be an undeniably brilliant Saint Joseph.
