The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne is another success, exhibiting notes of white flowers, mint, crisp Anjou pear and vanilla pod, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and satiny palate framed by racy acids and concluding with a saline finish.
Mid yellow, rather more exotic, riper, possibly not the purity of some other wines in the Jadot line-up. Some acidity, a bit ungainly, but with character. I don’t think it will ever be the most finely balanced wines. Pears and lemons together. Drink from 2025-2029. Tasted: October 2022
Pale lemon-straw in colour with a nose of pithy citrus rind and creamy, almost yoghurty fruit tones. This follows on the palate, which offers fresh cream and peach fruit against toasted spices and wood smoke. Indulgent but lined with the acidity of the vintage.
