Tasting Notes

Mellowing nicely, this red features overtones of white truffle, rose and autumn woods that complement the raspberry, cherry, sweet hay, iron and oak spice aromas and flavors. Supported by bracing acidity and a dense matrix of tannins, with a long, layered aftertaste. Compelling.

I noted that 2015 Romirasco was assembled with awesome architecture. This wine is built on these awe inspiring foundations, and it then soars impressively with infinite detail and baffling scale. The saltiness and dryness on the finish take you back to the glass quickly to ensure the lake of Granbussia is continually refreshed on your palate. From a fruit perspective, this is a deep wine with a black fruit and dark flower template. There are no reds to be found on the nose or palate. Tobacco always plays a massive role in Granbussia and it takes the form of fresh, rolled and smoked here. If ‘gentleman’s club’ was still a positive image these days, I would use this terminology, but a more modern, while at the same time as being an ancient analogy, which I vastly prefer is a cathedral. Look up at a magnificent stained glass window with light flooding through and focus on the haunting haziness, which is most likely a combination of faith, candle smoke, incense (depending on your religion), and the building breathing in and out with its centuries of knowledge and gravitas. This image is ingrained into my memory when I taste this wine.
