The 2015 Montrachet Grand Cru was deeply impressive after bottling, but this bottle surpassed those predictions. Taut, mineral and frankly spellbinding on the nose, this is a proper Grand Cru that rivets you to the spot. Maybe the 2014 has just slightly more delineation? The palate is taut, with flecks of white chocolate complementing the white peach and citrus fruit. Fabulous, penetrating tension on the finish lights up your senses. Magnificent. Tasted at the La Paulée in Beaune. Drink between 2025-2055.
This is also highly restrained and again the nose requires plenty of agitation to liberate the intensely floral and spiced aromas of various white-fleshed fruits and citrus. There is superb volume and concentration to the almost painfully intense flavors that are an inimitable combination of power and refinement while flashing strikingly fine length on the balanced finish. Not surprisingly this beauty is very backward at present and is going to require extended cellaring to develop its full and considerable potential. 2027+
