A wonderfully floral-infused nose, and particularly dried rose petal, flashes a pretty array of spice and freshly crushed red berries. The caressing, sappy and mouthcoating medium-bodied flavors possess another level of refinement that carries over to the balanced, classy, and intensely mineral-driven finale. This is terrific and a wine that should amply reward extended cellaring.

Revisited in bottle, the 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries and cherries mingled with dark chocolate and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and vibrant, with sweet, powdery tannins and lively acids, it concludes with a bright, mineral finish.
