There’s a delightful seashell edge to the very ripe red fruit aromas, as well as hints of lightly polished oak and a myriad of pressed flowers. But you need to dig in because it’s still quite closed. Full and very silky with fine, firm tannins that are beginning to integrate with the fruit. Long, balanced finish that will only expand with time. A classy Barolo that’s delicious to drink now, if you like your Barolo on the firm side, but will delight everyone from 2025.
This is a special wine packaged with a distinctive black label. The Ettore Germano 2016 Barolo Riserva Lazzarito is a true beauty with lovely fruit, dried cherry, plum, toasted spice, black tar and pressed rose. The wine is just beginning to show some elegant evolution with licorice and campfire ash, and you feel extra smoothness on the finish. 2023-2040
