Côte Rôtie Côte Brune, Domaine Jean-Paul Jamet 2019

Tasting Notes

Confirming expectations, the 2019 Cote Rotie Cote Brune stands out as one of the finest wines of the vintage. Aromas of violet, roses, black tea, tapenade and spices unfurl from the glass with striking clarity. The wine on the palate is full-bodied, dense and concentrated, revealing a powerful mid-palate and a fleshy core of fruit, all framed by silky, precise and delicate tannins. It culminates in a licorice-tinged, ethereal and seemingly endless finish. A masterful combination of power and finesse, this wine is built to age gracefully over the next 30 years.

The 2019 Côte Rôtie Côte Brune is quintessential Jamet with its aromatics, balance, purity, and length, as well as just classic, old-school Côte Rôtie flair. Offering up lots of red, black, and even some blue fruits, it has ample bacon fat and liquid flower nuances, full-bodied richness, a multi-dimensional texture, and a great, great finish. It’s another wine Northern Rhône lovers need to have in their cellar, and it’s going to check in with the greats from both this producer and the appellation.
