Bonnes Mares, Louis Jadot 2013

Tasting Notes

An overtly spicy nose also displays moderate though by no means invisible oak influence along with plenty of earth character. There is outstanding volume, power, muscle and mid-palate concentration to the serious broad-shouldered flavors that deliver impressive persistence on the beautifully well-balanced and hugely long finish. This is a big but not hard wine though the supporting tannins are notably firm so note well that sufficient patience is a prerequisite.

The 2013 Bonnes-Mares from Domaine Jadot is also outstanding and was really singing at the time of my visit. The pure and youthfully complex nose delivers a fine constellation of black cherries, plums, cocoa, woodsmoke, gamebirds, lovely soil tones and a stylish base of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a fine core, suave tannins and excellent focus and balance on the very long, classy and energetic finish. Lovely juice. (Drink between 2023-2060)
