Medium deep ruby/purple-colored with a sweet perfume of cedar wood, chocolate, oak, and black currants, this medium-bodied, attractive, soft Pauillac is ideal for drinking now and over the next 12-13 years.
A bit small and timid. Quite green tannins. Pretty austere and chewy.
Really good colour, a big, meaty wine for this Château, ripe small berry fruit, rich and rounded with good structure, quite tannic but well-balanced. Really very good. ****
Probably as successful as the 2000, this blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot exhibits an inky purple color, good sweetness, and plenty of toasty oak, licorice, and spice box notes. Pure, with ripe tannin and low acidity, it should be delicious young and age nicely for up to 12-15 years.
This blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot was produced from modest yields of 36 hectoliters per hectare. According to administrator Patrick Leon, no Cabernet Franc was utilized because its quality was not satisfactory. A dark ruby color is followed by a tight, firm, medium-bodied Pauillac with noticeable tannin, and an aggressive palate impression. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2014.
