Bright fresh purple, a lovely ripe dark red fruit, still totally vibrant, indeed exuding boundless energy in a deep dark cherry register. On the palate nearer to black fruit but this feels in good balance. The wine was taken out of new wood early to avoid it becoming too extreme. I have no hesitation about recommending this and it just gets better in the glass.
