Nutty, earthy and oily. Starting to show the ethereal qualities of old age – the damp, woody funk of attics and cellars. Combines youth and maturity in a wonderful weave of complexity.
The 1980 Rivesaltes has a slight adhesive note on the nose that detracts from the precision and fruit expression. The palate is nicely balanced with a viscous opening, notes of orange zest, dried honey, toffee and touches of clove, although like the 1982 I would like a little more depth on the finish. Tasted with Philippe Gayral. 2018 - 2023
