This also exhibits plenty of earth and sauvage elements yet the fruit profile is slightly higher-toned and a bit more elegant as well. There is a driving minerality and underlying tension to the succulent yet refined middle weight flavors that brim with dry extract on the impeccably well-balanced finale. This classy effort is at once built-to-age but not backward and should be accessible after only a few years.
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques has a beautifully composed bouquet with joyful, vivacious mulberry and redcurrant aromas that open wonderfully with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, crisp and tensile with tart red cherries, crushed strawberry, raspberry preserve and orange rind towards the harmonious and sustained finish. The class shows through here.
