A first growth on the outskirts of Mád, more volcanic bedrock this time overlaid with brown clays and lighter tuff soils that give this wine a racy acidity and real tension. The nose here is pure mandarin, apricot and honeysuckle with a little ginger syrup. The palate is full of ginger and white pepper, coated with intense honeyed fruit. There are tropical notes bolstered by a silky texture, but there is a zippy, zesty acidity to keep everything in check. Absolutely delicious already, this is a real crowd-pleaser yet has some serious depth and backbone for ageing. Outstanding.
Flavors of passion fruit coulis, pineapple upside-down cake, butterscotch, white truffle, smoke and ground cardamom are ripe and intense, backed by vivid acidity that plays at a similar volume on the palate. This finely balanced sweetie is long, sleek and expressive. Furmint and Kabar. Drink now through 2040. 662 cases made, 50 cases imported.
Very aromatic and characterful, with candied peaches and apples on the nose, plus notes of raw mushrooms and exotic spices. Full-bodied, dense and compact, with beautiful acidity that balances the sweetness and provides freshness and focus. Minerally and floral at the end, with a sleek, textured finish. Drink or hold.
Juicy honeydew and orange marmalade aromas burst out of this single-vineyard Tokaji, which also has notes of ripe apricots, peaches and white flowers on the nose. The structured, textured palate is rich with vanilla custard and almond flavors that last all the way through the long finish.
