This property in Castillon was bought by Jacques Thienpont of Le Pin in 2016. Formerly 2 vineyards - Chateaux Goubau and Montagne - he remamed it l'Hertre (which is a beech tree in French). The wine-maker is his nephew Maxime Thienpont. The vines are mainly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc and the wine is aged in one third new oak, one third 2nd year oak and one year third year oak.

Asphalt and tar with dark berry character and subdued violets. Medium- to full-bodied and precise, showing chalky tannins and plenty of definition. Firm and chewy but with an attractive crunchy edge. A blend of 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc.
