Tasting Notes

The 2022 Bonneau is showing well today, evoking a complex, elegant bouquet of honeysuckle, dried apricot, mango and ripe orchard fruits. Medium to full-bodied, round and elegant, it has a dense, fleshy core of fruit enhanced by gastronomic bitterness and a tense mid-palate that segues into a long, ethereal and perfectly balanced finish. This stunning, perfectly crafted Barsac has 128 grams per liter of residual sugar. 2026 - 2042

Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, January 2025

A bright golden colour in the glass, with a tropical nose of honey and saffron, together with pineapple rings and baked apples. The palate is glossy but lined with vibrant acidity, no easy feat in 2022. The sweetness is hedonistic but balanced, layered with ginger, marmalade and maple syrup. Honeyed peaches and fresh ceps line the finish. Complex and impressive. Jean-Marie has quickly found his stride in Barsac.

Thomas Parker MW, Farr Vintners, April 2023

The 2022 Bonneau is composed of 98% Semillon and 2% Muscadelle, with 138 g/L residual sugar. Pale to medium straw in color, it sashays out with wonderfully provocative scents of lemon meringue pie, pineapple upside-down cake, and orange blossoms, followed by hints of jasmine tea, lime cordial, and acacia honey. The palate delivers fantastic poise and grace for such a rich vintage, offering loads of ginger, baking spices, and chalky nuances to accent the opulent citrus and tropical fruit layers, leading to a finish of amazing length on this beautiful wine.
