More discreet but still discernible wood sets off cool, pure and elegant aromas of various red berries, lavender and a touch of freshly turned earth. The very rich big-bodied and powerful flavors possess a caressing mid-palate mouthfeel while demonstrating excellent length on the dusty, sappy and impressively long finish. This youthfully austere and very promising effort will also need extended bottle aging to shed its considerable carapace of firm tannins.
25% whole bunch and 50% new wood. Rich deep purple. An intense but less showy nose, actually surprisingly heady. This is 14% but shows it a little more than the Clos St-Denis. There is a touch more chocolate here, with dark cherry fruit, natural power and structure, and properly persistent.
