Rivesaltes, Château Sisqueille 1941

Tasting Notes

The 1941 Rivesaltes from Château Sisqueille, which made vins doux naturels until the early 1970s, has an entrancing bouquet with quince, Satsumas, mirabelle and touches of white flower. The precision and delineation here are astonishing. The palate is beautifully balanced with immense purity and perfect acidity with captivating quince, lemongrass, marmalade and brown sugar notes. This is a brilliant wartime vin doux naturel that is one of the finest that I have tasted from this long-lost estate. Drink 2017-2035.

Burnt amber, wild roses, wonderful richness, smooth finish.

Fine mahogany red, incredibly young for 1941, still showing red fruits with really good richness and very long finish, more robust than the 1942. 18.5/20.
