This elegant wine had not come my way since 2005 and time has been very good to it with its superbly elegant and pretty aromas of spice, dark berries, floral and sandalwood that evidence very little secondary character. The wonderfully refined and seductively textured flavors possess first-rate mid-palate concentration along with outstanding depth and length on the still moderately firmly structured finale. While this could certainly be drunk now with pleasure I would be inclined to continue to cellar it for up to another decade. In short, this is both classy and graceful.
Red berries, raspberries, and cherries are found in the nose of the ruby-colored 1998 Romanee-St.-Vivant. Medium-to-full-bodied and elegantly-styled, this strawberry jam and fresh raspberry-filled wine is intricate, well-defined, and concentrated. Drink this feminine offering over the next 8-9 years.
