The 2023 Kameraderie is a single-parcel Chenin Blanc from the Paardebery, 80% planted in 1966 and the rest in 1980. It was aged in 500-liter barrels and concrete on the lees. This has quite an intense bouquet with yellow plum, lanolin and touches of sage and fennel. The palate is well balanced with a slightly petrolly entry, fine delineation and tension, and hints of stem ginger toward the finish. Excellent.
Fragrant mango-skin, pineapple, honeysuckle and cardamom aromas here, followed by a medium-bodied and very fresh palate where cool mineral and herb undertones complement the yellow fruit. Lots of tension. From bush vines planted in 1966 and 1980 on the western side of Paardeberg. Drink or hold.
