Tasting Notes

This wine is made exclusively for Farr Vintners by Jean-Marie Guffens from vines grown at an elevation of 400 metres on a limestone soil near the village of Apt in North-West Provence. The grapes were all picked by hand and come mainly from the Plateau de l’Aigle. This Burgundian-style Chardonnay is matured 60% in barrel - with 25% new oak - and 40% in tulip-shaped concrete tanks. Chardonnay is not a permitted variety for the local Luberon Appellation, so Jean-Marie labels it as Vin de France. There is a tiny amount of Viognier added to give it some peachy aromatics. Bright lemon in colour with a bold, peachy nose that shows notes of yellow apples, lemon curd and layers of orchard fruit. The palate is creamy, with a fleshy fruit core and soft, pulpy acids. Silky in texture with supple waxy fruit and hints of baking spice, this offers immediate drinking pleasure. Expansive with stone and some tropical fruit on the finish, this is best to drink now or over the coming 3-5 years.
