This 9 hectare Pomerol property has been owned by the Moueix family since 1953 when it was purchased with Trotanoy. It is very well situated on the famous Pomerol plateau near to Le Gay and Gazin and gained a part of the Providence vineyard when that property was merged with La Fleur Petrus. It is planted entirely with Merlot vines on gravel above clay. The wines produced here are invariably supple, smooth and creamy "Moueix Pomerol" in style, for relatively early enjoyment. Possibly the best value wine in Pomerol.

The 2022 was picked from the 6th to 13th of September

Tasting Notes

Very firm and focused with silky tannins, which are driven and intense. Full-bodied yet reserved and polished. Impressive finish for the estate with chocolate and light coffee bean. Pure merlot.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, April 2023

Aromas of rich berries, cherries, spices and truffles introduce the 2022 Lagrange (Pomerol), a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine that's deep and layered, its sweet core of fruit framed by powdery tannins.

William Kelley, Wine Advocate (266), April 2023

Deep ruby colour. Powerful black fruit bursts from the glass, together with baked vanilla. Oily fruit coats the palate, gently framed by ripe, soft tannins. Plush and rounded, this is pure pleasure with a succulence balanced by saline, smoky wood. Long, broad and delicious. This is what Pomerol is all about - and it should be ready to drink at a fairly young age. Certainly the best value wine from the great JP Moueix portfolio.

Thomas Parker MW, Farr Vintners, April 2023

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Lagrange (Pomerol) rolls out of the glass with easy-breezy notes of red currant jelly, black raspberries, and fresh blackberries, followed by suggestions of aniseed and bay leaves. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with energetic red berry flavors, framed by well-managed, approachable tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with a skip in its step. This is made from 100% Merlot.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, The Wine Independent, May 2023

Plum colour with vivid raspberry highlights, gentle oak smoking, run towards an intense wall of tannins and smoked caramel notes, balanced by supple black fruits. Gourmet, intense, with appellation and vintage signature.

100% Merlot. Cask sample.
Juicy and round with an expressive red-fruit aroma and flavour topped by a sliver of oak spice. Supple texture, fine tannins and a bit of length. Honest and pure. Should be GV. (JL)
