This property is wonderfully situated, right next door to Petrus on the Pomerol plateau. The vineyard is planted with 92% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Classic traditional Pomerols are produced here and en primeur prices are usually very reasonable.

The 2017 Gazin is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It sings of pretty redcurrant jelly and black raspberry scents, plus hints of wild sage, tree bark, and fertile loam. Medium-bodied, the palate is delicately styled and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and an understated, earthy finish.
The 2017 Gazin has a detailed and well defined bouquet, scents of blackberry, undergrowth, black truffle and a touch of lavender gently unfold with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. There is a fine bead of acidity here, classic in style with tertiary, slightly ferrous notes towards the harmonious and persistent finish. Multiple showing evince a Pomerol that is improving day-by-day in bottle, manifesting more sophistication and harmony. Drink 2022-2040.
Blueberry and plum aromas here with some flowers and hot stones, too. Complex. Medium body. Juicy fruit in the center palate. Soft, refined tannins and fresh acidity. Lovely complexity and focus. Drink in 2021.
A property that is extremely well poised and consistent across the last decade. This has enjoyably tight black fruits from its dash of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon, with extremely fine, austere tannins and a good attack. It dips a touch on the mid-palate, and for this estate it lacks just a little depth. Although it's built to last, it's not quite up to the standard of the last few vintages. Tasted three times.
Drinking Window 2024 - 2038
Mid crimson. Pale rim. Rather muted nose. Angular palate. Some flesh in the middle and doubtless the acidity will fade but this is clearly a second-class vintage.
Drink 2024-2032
Deep crimson. A little meaty on the nose, but with a definite graphite note and sweet black plum. Firm and dry but the fruit is there for a balanced whole. Persistent, too.
Drink 2024-2032
Black cherry and cassis here on the nose, which is very ripe and dark fruited for the appellation. The oak on the palate is sweet but in keeping with the ripe black fruits. The tannins are polished and elegant. Though this is ripe, it is not over extracted, offering a harmonious and seductive style that should be a real hit with the hedonists. The supple structure also suits those looking to drink a wine both in youth and through to full maturity.
Rich ripe fruit the nose is sweet good depth of flavour the start of the palate a rich mix of black fruits. Fine tannins underpin the mid palate if fleshy supple ripe fruit and although there is enough fresh fruit to balance it finishes sweet and fleshy.2024-35
Concentrated and with fine detail, this is a well-balanced wine with a lot of power and attack on the nose and palate. The oak seems quite dominant at the moment but this will melt away, but the fruit is full and ripe and there is some considerable detail in terms of red and black flavour complexity. Long and savoury, but not too dry, this is a lovely Gazin.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Gazin has a beautifully fragrant nose of potpourri, chocolate-covered cherries and spiced mulberries with a core of warm plums and cherry cordial plus a waft of wild blueberries. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy. Drink 2021-2034.
The 2017 Gazin has a very classic Pomerol bouquet with black brambly fruit infused with black truffle and subtle raspberry confit notes. Then, as it opens, there are loamy aromas that lend more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin and a fine bead of acidity. There is a slightly powdery texture, feeling quite saline. White pepper and fennel notes become more conspicuous towards the finish. Just a classic Gazin from proprietor Nicolas de Bailliencourt and his team. Drink 2022 - 2045.
A dense and flavorful red already with dark-berry, seaweed and wet-earth undertones. Full body and round and chewy tannins. Green olives on the finish. Serious for the vintage.
The 2017 Gazin is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and scented of warm red plums and black forest cake with touches of forest floor and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, soft, rounded and mouth-filling, it gives good expression and depth.
