The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru has a delineated, quite mineral-driven bouquet of petrichor/wet limestone and just a touch of flint, accompanied by light orange blossom scents. The palate is very well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and one of the most saline finishes among Bachelet’s 2020s. Excellent.
A markedly floral-inflected nose displays additional notes of rosemary oil, pear, apple and citrus confit. I very much like the texture of the solidly voluminous, round and powerful flavors that terminate in a beautifully persistent finish. This could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop if given at least a few years of cellaring. Note: from 60+ year old vines in Les Chaumes
