Cool and airy aromas flash notes of Granny Smith apples, citrus rind, mineral reduction and moderate wood influence. There is fine volume and plenty of vibrancy to the delicious middle weight flavors that are a bit more mineral-driven, though they don't possess nearly the same size and weight, while concluding in a bitter lemon-inflected finish where a touch of warmth slowly emerges. A very cool and tight Corton Charlemagne with the intense spice, bold structure and steeliness that we expect from this appellation. Staggering concentration, which at this early stage makes the wine slightly austere, but all this gives it great aging potential. Fantastic integration of oak, fruit and mineral acidity at the amazing finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.
Cask sample. This absolutely stood out among the white wines. I tried the 2019 and 2020 Corton-Charlemagne. Both were good but the 2020 has much more about it. Complex, nutty, focused acidity. All the components are there but this needs time to properly mesh. Will be memorable. (AWH) (Drink between 2023-2030)
