The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Pucelle 1er Cru is missing some vigor on the nose. At first, it's a little anonymous, though it reluctantly reveals enticing wet limestone and dewy meadow scents. Fine delineation and the oak are very well integrated. The palate is well-balanced, and here, the oak imparts a creamy veneer, though that should be absorbed with time. Commendable depth, although it doesn't fully have the same complexity as its peers on the finish. Still, it's one of the most finessed Les Pucelles in the flight. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Drink between 2026-2050)
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Pucelle mingles aromas of pear and citrus oil with hints of smoke, white flowers and a subtle framing of toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and taut, with a fleshy core underpinned by tangy acids, it concludes with a saline finish.
Just a little lime touch to the colour. Intense and pure, slightly truffley on the nose, with an extra weight behind. Sitting back on its haunches, fine concentration, white fruit, a little more flesh appearing at the back, with fairly good persistence.
