The 2015 Lacoste-Borie has an attractive bouquet with upfront, expressive scents of crushed strawberry, raspberry coulis, cedar and light mint aromas that are well defined. There is joie de vivre here. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, a juicy Lacoste-Borie that wears its heart on its sleeve, hints of vanilla toward the finish suggesting it will need a couple more years to absorb the new oak. Anticipated maturity: 2020 - 2028.
Soft and silky second wine of Grand Puy Lacost. Medium to full body, juicy fruit and a velvety tannic finish.
Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Spicy, fairly attractive nose. But pretty simple on the palate. Merlot sweepings? Inky finish.
Drink 2023-2030
The second wine of Grand Puy Lacoste. Always good value and usually made in a forward style for relatively early drinking. In 2015 this is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Vibrant ruby colour in the glass with juicy black cherry and a little redcurrant. The palate is juicy and lively with lots of bramble fruit and a little coriander. This is zippy and moreish with a nice savoury spice on the finish.
The nose has a fleshy richness the palate depth of fruit ripe cassis in the middle. Fine tannins add to the suppleness the back palate has richness and depth but there is freshness a lighter fragrant feel to the finish.
The second wine of Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a wine for claret drinkers rather than points
junkies. Typically floral and refined, with very gentle oaking, it’s a more serious wine than it
seems at first, showing supporting tannins, a twist of vanilla spice and refreshing acidity.
Drink: 2020-25
Typically spot on, superbly accurate and perfectly balanced, this is a charming Lacoste-Borie and there is plenty of
tension on the finish with fine-grained tannins and crunchy acidity to balance the fabulous, ebullient nose and palate. It
will drink early giving a glimpse of the Grand-Puy-Lacoste theme tune, but played softly and gently to woo your senses.
This is such a delicious creation in the first instance that you forget it is a second wine.
The 2015 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It has a slightly muted bouquet, tobacco-tinged black fruit that gently opens in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, foursquare in the mouth with that tobacco theme continuing. Linear, a little aloof at the moment, I would hope that more flesh can come through towards the spicy finish that cuts away a little swiftly. Drink 2020-2035
Dark crimson. Racy, not concentrated but lots of drive. Quite early maturing. Sandpaper end.
