Tasting Notes

Tasted from Magnum.

Disgorged January 2017, the magnums of Classic Cuvée 2010 live up to the high expectations given the quality of the wine from bottle. Bright and pale lemon in the glass, the nose is fine, fresh and mineral, with citrus peel lightly toasted brioche and an element of struck flint. The palate is driven by vibrant acidity but fleshed out by a fine, creamy and persistent mousse. This is still taut and youthful, the fruit vibrant and zingy, a testament to the ageing potential of this wine. Complexity comes from light bready notes, and increasingly with air notes of lemon curd, brioche and smoke. The finish is long, very fine and harmonious. The length and freshness are very impressive. This is delicious to drink now, but it should evolve wonderfully over the next 7+ years.

Farr Vintners, Farr Tasting, December 2017

Pale lemon with fine, persistent bubbles in the glass. The nose is mineral, fresh and flinty, with hints of citrus and a light bready note. The palate is vibrant with refreshing acidity, cool lemon and stone fruit, a real flinty minerality and even light floral notes. There is real purity and clarity here which is heightened by the fine, persistent mousse. The fruit and acidity are perfectly in balance on the mid palate, giving real precision and focus. The finish is long and fine, with hints of brioche adding complexity to the fresh fruit profile.
