Tasted at the Pomerol Syndicate tasting. The Feytit '09 has an almost bashful bouquet that takes some coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing some lovely blackberry and boysenberry aromas. The palate is full-bodied, a lot of extraction here, a really mouth-filling Feytit with fine definition and a smooth, chocolate tinged finish that displays impressive persistency. Feytit remains one of the up and coming Pomerol estates. Tasted April 2010.
Blackberry and licorice, with spices. Tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a round and beautiful finish. So silky and beautiful. Lovely texture.
Exceptionally dark crimson. Tarry and very ripe but with great dryness on the finish. This could just be a bit too dry overall. Date tasted 29th March 2010. Drink 2017-2026.
This tiny 17 acre Pomerol estate has been on the up since proprietor Jeremy Chasseuil took back control in 2000 after a long standing lease with Moueix expired. With only a 1200 case production, it is worth looking out for en primeur in the good vintages. The 2009 is smooth and silky. Not at all a blockbuster in style, but smooth, elegant and charming.
Lush black plum intermingles with ripe cassis giving the nose depth and richness. The fresher fruits that show on the mid palate lightening the richness but the power is there at the back giving it lots of flesh. Drink 2020-2035.
Rich, ripe and round. Gourmand in terms of texture and flavour. Fine tannic frame. Drink 2015-2028.
This estate's extraordinary progression in quality over recent years has culminated in the greatest Feytit-Clinet ever made. The inky/purple-tinged 2009 reveals loads of spring flower aromas intermixed with notions of charcoal, black currants, black raspberries, blueberries, graphite, blackberries, and hints of licorice and forest floor. A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc that achieved 14.5% alcohol naturally, consumers should jump on this exquisite Pomerol as the marketplace has not yet caught up with the quality emerging from this property. Yields were 34 hectoliters per hectare. Thick, unctuous flavors, full-bodied power, and sweet tannins suggest it will drink well for 25-35 years. Sadly, only 1,300 cases will be produced.
