Syrah Reserve, Lismore Estate Vineyards 2024

Tasting Notes

The 2024 Syrah Estate Reserve comes from low-yielding vines in Greyton and is made with 50% whole cluster and aged in 500- and 700 litre barrels with around 20% new wood. It has an expressive, beautifully defined bouquet with vivacious red berry fruit, cracked white pepper and hints of Provencal herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that frame the red berry fruit, hints of curry leaf, white pepper (again) and garrigue. Very complex, very compelling, this is a Syrah from the top drawer. Drinking Window: 2027 – 2048

A huge step up on the basic Lismore Syrah in 2024, this is entirely sourced from Samantha O’Keefe’s own vines in the cool climate region of Greyton. Ethereal, perfumed and refined, it has violet and lily aromas, some texture from 50% whole clusters, layered tannins and a core of blackberry, white pepper and red berry fruit. The 35% new oak is right on point. Drink 2028-35.
