The 2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru offers more red fruit than Mugneret-Gibourg's Ruchottes and is equally well defined and poised, with disarming transparency. The palate offers vibrant, slightly tart red fruit. Quite spicy in the mouth, surfeit with energy and displaying superb structure and grip on the finish. This is a magnificent Ruchottes-Chambertin. Chapeau! Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. (Drink between 2026-2060)
A full colour with a little more evolution and a soupier nose, but suggesting density, perhaps just backward. Good acidity here, not yet entirely integrated, this is a concentrated youthful wine which has not yet completely found its harmony, but I believe will certainly do so.
