The 2010 Pensées de Lafleur is just missing some complexity on the nose compared to its peers, but it seems to awaken in the glass revealing sous-bois, morels and tar-tinged black fruit that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, a fine bead of acidity, very well balanced with a deep and pixelated finish. Outstanding. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. The 2010 Les Pensees de Lafleur is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine is fresh and lively, with loads of strawberry and black cherry fruit, hints of underbrush and crushed rock, and good length. The final blend seems to be different from what I tasted in early 2011. Drink it over the next 15 years.
This shows such gorgeous aromas of cocoa powder, red fruits and berries. Full body, with such pretty silky tannins and an amazing savory, juicy and delicious finish. It makes you want to drink. Superb balance and intensity. So approachable yet structured. More than the second wine of Lafleur.
Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Pensées de Lafleur gives up notes of black olives, cedar chest and balsamic over a core of baked plums, blackberry pie and raisin cake. Medium to full-bodied, the mid-palate takes a slight dip while the finish is a little tart and chewy 2020-2030
65% Merlot. Deep crimson. Real life and mineral highlights on the nose. Dense and thick and sweet. From a small parcel of Lafleur. From a specific parcel. Lovely stuff. Very winning with good structure and acid. Lovely pure stuff. From a parcel with slightly less density than the grand vin. Just a bit firm on the end for now. Fresh.
The second wine, which normally represents about one-third of the tiny production from Lafleur-s vineyard on the high plateau of Pomerol just across the road from Petrus and Vieux Chateau Certan, is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc. Pure raspberries and other red fruits jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, elegant, yet weighty wine, which should be reasonably drinkable early on and last up to 15 more years. Basile Guinaudeau, the son of Jacques, thinks this is the finest Les Pensees de Lafleur they have made since the 2000.
Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. I must admit that I went totally overboard with my appreciation for this brilliant second wine from the Guinaudeau family. I guess I was just smitten by its style. The Pensées de Lafleur 2010 has an attractive savoury bouquet, a little disjointed but well defined with pencil shavings and singed leather developing with aeration. It gains cohesion in the glass, vigour too. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, well judged acidity and a profound, refined finish that is very complex and quintessential Pomerol.
